Ann Arbor Fiberarts Guild’s Exhibition Statement: Fiber art is a term used to classify the practice of creating a finished work utilizing natural and/or synthetic fibers. This includes forms of surface design, sculpture, wearable art, textiles, papermaking, and basketry.

The Ann Arbor Fiberarts Guild (AAFG) is an educational and social organization that provides opportunities for fiber artists, and anyone who appreciates fiber arts, to meet and exchange ideas. Founded in 1956 as a club for weavers, today the Guild has evolved to encompass members creating all forms of fiber art. This includes beading, crochet, dyeing and painting fabric, felting, embroidery, garment design and construction, knitting, paper making, quilting, rug hooking, sewing, and most recently, paper collage.

In addition to monthly meetings, both in person and remotely, the Guild promotes the enjoyment of fiber arts through presentations, demonstrations, workshops, a library, and Saturday morning open studio Fiber Spa gatherings. The AAFG also promotes members’ sales and sponsors exhibitions of our members’ artwork.
